(∆)Cary jump rope team on ABDC - Profile of Tyler Perez, from the jump rope crew Saltare that won the Southern Regional on MTV’s America’s Best Dance Crew and will compete again tonight. “The other crews didn’t take us seriously at first.  But we just showed them something and as soon as we did that, they were like, ‘Oh my gosh, that’s the craziest thing I’ve ever seen.’ Perez added: “It was a surprise element at first. Now our goal is to try and keep that up. We want to make sure that we can continue to show them things they haven’t seen before.” (Cary News)

Plan to allow h.s. graduation in 2 years – Eight states will test a plan that will allow students who pass a battery of tests to earn a diploma and immediately enroll in a community college.“That’s a central problem we’re trying to address, the enormous failure rate of these kids when they go to the open admission colleges,” said Marc S. Tucker, president of the center, a Washington-based nonprofit. “We’ve looked at schools all over the world, and if you walk into a high school in the countries that use these board exams, you’ll see kids working hard, whether they want to be a carpenter or a brain surgeon.” (NYT)

(∆)Holly Springs diver wins 4th state title – Julie Doran of Holly Springs is the first diver to win 4 consecutive 4-A state diving championships.  “I really didn’t feel any pressure,” Doran said. ”I just wanted to dive and have a good time. I was seeded fourth, and there were a lot of really good girls there. I really didn’t feel confident, but I wanted to have a good time diving.”  (SW Wake News)
